I just got rejected for a mobile SIM card. It was with Orange and was one of those SIM only monthly ones where they do a minimal check on you. My ID and address was confirmed as alright - even though i am not on the electoral roll at my address. However, it got a referral instead of being immediately okayed. Ten minutes later I was told it got rejected. Perhaps when someone saw the bankruptcy on file (Experian) or, who knows, because one of my creditors was Orange for £400 (though it was showing as 'settled' the last time I got a copy of my credit file).

So, I cannot even pass a minimal credit check, though I am discharged. Oddly, they seemed to think I still had a mortgage - because they mortgage company still updates the credit file after the house was repossessed. I await the sale of the property and my wife's discharge (not quite separated yet and hopefully won't be!).

I would imagine it's because Orange were one of your creditors. Have you tried 02, as they are supposed to accept people with poor credit histories onto a SIM only package which they will then upgrade to a full contract with a phone if the payments are kept up.

Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.
