I've just found out at work that if I want it, a promotio is mine. I'd go from 16 to 25 hrs a week, and at higher pay.
I spoke to my OR yesterday, and she disallowed our sky/pet ins from our expenditure, so currently
income: 1338 expenditure: 1518
if I change my hours, it'd be
income: 1591 expenditure: 1518
what do you think would happen IPA wise? what about if I had to do overtime now and then (but not a regular or set amount)?
I'm on the fence about the job because it's many more hours, but obviously the money is a factor.
Also, if I got an IPA, and then a year into my IPA I lost hours/went on maternity (possible, but not likely) etc, would the IPA finish? Could it then be restarted if I started earning more again, or can an IPA only be set up whilst undischarged?

An IPO is available to be amended as and when there are changes to your income - if for example you current inc & exp meant that you were due to pay an IPO your increase in hours & income would obviously affect your IPO and it would be increased accordingly (of course any additional expenditure would also be taken into account ie increased petrol/travel costs if incurred)
If you were to be informed that you were not liable for an IPO on your current inc & exp then increased your hours/pay and informed them (as you must) then you may be liable for an IPO as your circumstances ie disposible income has increased.
May be you should think long and hard whether the additional hours are worth it? although I do not mean this to be that someone should reduce thier hours just to get away from an IPO - just that if you have been working a set number of hours prior to bankruptcy is it worth increasing them when you may not get much financial benefit

| I'm wondering whether on those figures, we would get an IPA at all... on our current, she said we wouldnt get one, but on the propsed income if I go for the promotion, I'm not sure. |

Arrrrgh
they've just told me that the pay is higher than I thought, so it would be
inc 1608 allowed outgoings 1518
this leaves 90 DI
Can I get an IPA on that? Would they allow additional expenses on travel?
please help, have to give work an answer tomorrow afternoon |

I think your DI has to be more than £100 per month before you get an IPA.
The glimmer gets brighter all the time

I would watch that, as it is such a borderline amount, I think the OR would knock £10 off another item and you would get a £50 per month IPA
This happened to us, although we had £20 per month surplus, the OR tried to disallow home insurance, optician costs, cut the clothing budget and wanted an IPA of £52 per month.
We contested it and won and the IPA was dropped. |

the problem in that is that I'v done my OR call already, so she'd already agreed on weds everything bar the pet ins & sky (which leaves the 1518 figure).
She'd have to go back on what she said to cut us down, where she's already agreed. They're sending me a new I&E, and the clerk said that they would take my extra travel costs in to amount (I'd be working more days in a week, therefore more travel).
TBH, even if we get an IPA of £50ish, we'd still be better off each month... |

| I would not take anything the OR agreed to on the telephone as gospel, they can change their mind. We were told at the beginning that we did not have enough surplus for an IPA, but I got a call a few days later from the OR's office saying that they had looked at the figures again and decided we should have one! We did not hear anything for a while and we received an new I&E form for early discharge, I put EXACTLY the same info down as at the start of bankruptcy, but they OR sent an IPA agreement out to sign! This is when I questioned it as I felt it unfair. |

its a real nightmare at the mo... on my current job, we are gonna struggle each month with nowt spare... bu if I change jobs, it's gonna put us right on the border...
Its not that I mind paying an IPA, but it's the constant hassle, and the constant monitoring of I&E for 3 years.
If I stopped working the new job within 3 years, and IPA was stopped, would I still have to do I&E for the remainder of the 3 years? |

I don't know what it will be like with Moon Beaver, but I've never been contacted about my IPA. It was reassessed when I moved house and it'll be reassessed in April when I find out my new salary, but that's it.
If this is a good opportunity for you work wise I would say go for it. Don't say no just because you're worried about an IPA - you don't know if you'll get the opportunity again.

| i've been there a year as a sales assistant... this move will make me supervisor (have no supervisory exp, so it'd be hard to find another supervisor job elsewhere, but if I do it now, in the future I would have supervisory exp). Its also 50p an hour more... |
