Try not to worry too much. Which court are you going to and maybe there is someone on this board who has been declared BR there so can let you know exactly what happens?

Normally it is a case of:

- The forms being checked by the clerk and you hand the £510 BR fee to them. Once they have checked the forms they will ask you to sign them.
- You may be asked to come back later that day or to wait for a while so take a book to read.
- Depending upon the court you may or may not need to see the judge. Even if you do they will only want to ensure that you are aware of the implications of declaring BR.
- After you have been declared BR you may speak to the OR/OR's assistant who will let you know that they will be contacting you to arrange a time/date for the OR's interview.

Hi Cas, I went Br 8th May. I got to the court an hour early and was gradually joined by 12 or so other people. Everyone from the security guards to the court officials were kind, helpfull and totally non judgemental. I went upstairs to the canteen and had a cooked breakfast and in only an hour and a half was back on the street as a new BR. It is then such a relief to be able to tell your creditors, debt collectors etc your reference number and as soon as they get this, they pretty much leave you alone. A couple of banks are still writing to me but this is becasue it takes a while to filter through their system. I have spoken to the O.R. and have my first phone interview next friday but they have been good too, I couldnt make the first dte due to having some work, and they chenged it to suit me at once. If BR is right for you then dont worry, you will be a new person after court. Tomorrow IS the first day of the rest of your life. A new start. Good Luck, let us know how it goes. You are not alone. Regards, steve
