hello all
i heard from my bank today who i have just gone br on ,i have been with my bank 30 years and only been in debt deep debt since last august ,i had never missed any payments on anything only the last month ,i have no county count judgements or anything, and my crdeit rating was fine till last month when the bank hit me with massive charges also the credit card company pounced on me ,
i explained why i had gone bankrypt and how ,and that i had chopped all my credit cards up ,they said i had taken the right action going br , if i had left it i would have incured deeper and deeeper debt .
the reason i am writting this is because i thought i had to have had dca ,counciling, country court judgements ,ivas the lot before i enter bankrupcy ,or offer silly payments to your creditors.......... you do not as i say the bank said i have done everything right as theres no way i could have ever have paid them back at all.
i did say to the bank that i thought all these get you out of debt schemes seem to good to be true ......and they do say if it seems to good to be true it normaly is .....
i am not saying what i have done and the way i have done it is right for everyone .but i could not stand the thought of some big man or woman standing on my door step saying he was going to take the few things i have ( i lived with a bully),and i could not take getting all thoses calls and not being able to answer the phone ,but everyone so far has been really nice on the phone when i had the courage to anwser it and seem happier that i have told them they not getting their money as i am br .i do feel very bad as i am a very hard working person never had a hoilday only ever worked ,but now my life will change .thanks to the lovely judge who has now given me my life back BR.fresh start.
everyone going through what i did last month then on to br monday 1 june please don't worry ,in the courts everyone is really nice and help full i think they know what we are all going through.
and i am so gratefull to this site and who ever has created it A BIG THANK-YOU .

Well done cas, I'm glad things have worked out for you, and good luck for the future.

On the subject of DMPs, while they aren't for everyone they definitely have a place as not everyone can do an IVA or go BR, and some people feel morally obliged to pay back every penny they have borrowed.

There are no rights and wrongs, it's down to choice and circumstances.

Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.

I agree Skippy.

I did a DMP and am now in an IVA, and whilst it doesn't suit everyone, they are both good solutions to get out of debt.

I chose not to go bankrupt as a) I wanted to pay back as much of my debt as I could, and b) I would have lost my house as there is too much equity in it.

However, bankruptcy is the best solution for a lot of people.

I would never knock other solutions though.

The glimmer gets brighter all the time
