I am in court on the 24th June, 2009 to go bankrupt. I am doing this my self with no help other than advice from CAB. I have been informed that apparently my partner will not pay income tax on his wages whilst we are under the bankruptcy order is this true?? Also will the reciever sort all of the actual figures out and trace the companies as I dont have the full addresses of some of the companies I owe money to. I'm getting very stressed over all of this and will be glad to get this over with after a stressful last few years worrying about debt! Any help will be gratefully recieved

Hi there and a warm welcome to the forum.

When someone is declared bankrupt the inland revenue is informed and they are placed on what is known as an NT Tax coding for the remainder of that financial year. In effect this means they will not pay any tax direct from their salary BUT the official receiver will expect the amount to be paid to them on a monthly basis by the individual.

It os the Official Receivers role to write to each of your creditors to establish the debt - although you are expected to provide as much information as you can by way of your list of creditors on your statement of affairs - addresses are irrelevant but all account numbers should where possible be provided.

The Official Receiver will be appointment trustee of your estate on the making of the bankruptcy and in effect take over all your debts - they become his - so you will find that following the bankruptcy your life will be far less stressfulw ithout theburden of your debts

Good luck on the 24th, not that you will need any!!! it is a very straight forward process. if you need any help please post away, we are alwys happy to help
