I have a BR hearing in court on the 6th July 09. I have been told I do not have to attend by the IVA people who filed the bankruptcy petition on my behalf. My husband and I are separated and have separate accounts now tho had a joint IVA. I live with my teenage daughter and just about scrape by with living costs. I am worried about what happens with the bank account. I have a savings account that my bank let me use with DD, SO etc after I closed the joint account. Once the BR hearing is over, I assume that the next step is an interview or phone chat with OR? If so when does the bank account get frozen, and will I be able to service all bills etc? Also if there is any monies in the account ie that left after bills are paid is it seized? Ive booked a holiday in my parents caravan in July for my daughters summer hols - costs to me are the hire of a car for the week and petrol - will I be able to do that, or will funds be taken so that I cant afford that? Do I need to leave just bill money in bank and retain the remaining money myself for the month? come to think of it can I hire a car when bankrupt? God I am worried to death hence the early am posting and stress levels going through the roof. Please help me I have no where else to go?

I was advised on this sight to open a coop cashminder account before bankruptcy, tell them that you are going bankrupt, they will be fine with that.I changed all direct debits to this account and had wages, benefits ect paid into before bankruptcy. If you tell OR it is for living expenditure she will have no interest in it and it won't be frozen.Bank accounts should be frozen (if they are going to be straight away,so I would draw all money out ot your account the day before in case, you could always make alternative arrangements to pay any direct debits until coop account is up and running.I had a very quick call off Or on the day I went BR and actual phone meeting 3 weeks later.Try not to worry too much it will be for the best in the end, from 6th July you'll have no debts at all and everyone on this great forum will help you in any way possible.
