The given period for bankruptcy is 12 months, but the majority of people get what is called an early discharge after 6 months (sometimes even before that, depending wholly on the individual case) However if you have a disposible income in excess of £100 (after allowable expenditure) you may be given an IPA/IPO which you will have to pay for 36 months, the discharge period is not affected by whether or not you have an IPA/IPO
