It depends on the benefits, things such as Incapacity Benefits, Disability Living Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance are counted whereas Jobseekers allowance isnt.

we have housing benefit, child tax credit, working tax credit and child benefit??

Child and working tax credit are counted but child benefit is disregarded

Child benefit is no longer discounted, but the more important point for the poster is that if all the income is from benefits then no Surplus IPA will be sought

my husband is self employed at the moment and so will loose his income as we will loose the business so for a time it would be benefits. when he has got a job would it be looked at again??

if you have a change of circumstances during the bankruptcy it will be reassessed

as my husband will loose his income can we claim full benefits until he gets employment, we are already in reciept of partial housing benefit.

That is something you need to sort out with DWP and other agencies.

Perhaps give CAB a ring so they can assist you.
