Has anyone had dealings with the above? Had a letter pushed through today saying they had called on behalf of EGG, and that I had to ring them within 24 hours to make an appointment. We do not go BR until 26/11. Should I just ignore it or contact them. I am inclined to just ignore it as I have informed all my creditors of my filing for BR. Has really unnerved my wife and me to some extent, did not envisage that someone would actually call.

Hi Charlie

Egg are monsters - they use a firm called DL Collections - suggest ignore them and DO NOT let them in if they do call

Good luck Richard

if after BR a creditor is persistant in harassing you tell your OR, it is illegal for any creditor to take money from you after BR and it is illegal for you to give it to them!!!
the OR will take a dim view of any creditor hassling for payment after BR

Personally, I wouldn't phone them. They can't do anything to you now so just let it ride.

Hello Charlie

Can I ask how many missed payments you had before EGG started to bring pressure upon you. I will be going BR in February 2010 and I also have an EGG account which I am about to stop paying

I can't speak for Egg but for MBNA and Halifax it was 3 missed payments for me before they got the debt collectors involved and started applying pressure.

I would recommend getting a PAYG mobile and putting £10 or so on it and then updating all of your creditors to use this new number. Once creditors start calling the calls come through thick and fast. With the new mobile you can just speak to each creditor once (if you want) to inform them you are declaring BR, have no money to make any token payments and then leave the phone on silent so you are not constantly harassed by them calling.

Hi Peter, it was 2 missed payments and I even informed them that I had a date to file for BR, waste of paper and a stamp that was.
