John,
I thought id start a new post if thats ok.
My examiner asked what the other income was and i told her verbally and also it is written on the SOA clearly.
Should she take the DLA for my eldest son into consideration when looking at income and also how about Child Benefit is that also added into there income bit.
Like I said i added it on the form and clearly wrote what each we for and where from, also sending in my copies of letetrs clearly stating each benefit we got.
Any advice please as this means if they dont take it into account we should not get an IPA as the 250 we get for our eldest alone takes us way down.
Thanks
Jo

Hi Jo, our CB wasn't included, but i dont know each OR might be different. When we received DLA (havn't claimed it this year!) i was always told it was to cover the extra expenditure that your child inevitably incurs (electric, petrol for hospital visits, specialist activities and care etc) If the OR does decide to include it, just make sure that it is relative in the expenditure part. x

Hi Rollercoaster.
On our SOA it was just added in as essential household items as in general living costs.
We have not been told yet if its been included or not and dont know when it will be.
So are you aware if they will include child benefit into the income.

John:
Do you know for def about the DLA as this is used on my eldest son?
Should it be included by the OR as I just listed it in with our income and pur DLA but also I just added then that into my expenditure.
Can you please help me John to get the advice we need on this as with it included it will be maybe as follows:
With CB & DLA we may pay 168 IPA
With just CB included 0 to pay
and with no CB or DLA 0 to pay. From June 09 we wont be getting the DLA then as it then will be our sons and so cant be included from then either.
Thats cutting out the extras we added and giving us next to nothing on the form.
Please advise.
JO

Hi Jo

R/C has it right here.
Whilst you are asked the question within the SoA to add ALL benefits and allowances not all can be viewed as income.

Both DLA & CB are two that will not count towards a possible IPA.

Hi John
Let me get this straight, i told the OR that we had benefits of DLA, CB, Tax Credits and also CA per month.
I told her when we get them and also how much.
So hopefully they wont include the DLA and CB when recalulating my income as i included these.
That will mean then that the income available to use against an IPA will be down by 425 per month.
Is this right
JO

Hi jo

that's correct.
So that there are no misunderstandings the OR, through the SoA, requires all benefits and allowances to be listed.

The ones that cannot be included as part of YOUR income are then removed but that's for him to do not us.

The DLA is for your son, the CB is for your children and are not counted.
Tax Credits and CA are specifically for you and so they are part of YOUR income.

PS. Congratulations on the new forum title, I'm pleased to see you decided to accept.
You will make mistakes, as have I and more than once, but it's a pleasure to help and a great way of learning more.
