Hey Skippy
I have just been reading your blog with regard to your credit files.
I am correct in assuming that a lender cannot defaut you after you have been declared BR?
We were made BR on 10th September and there are now defaults appering on my credit file.
Thanks
Pete

Hi Pete, they're not supposed to default you after your BR date, althought that doesn't always stop them! That's why I'm writing to each of my creditors to get them to amend the default date, and to mark the account as satisfied.

Have you had defaults since you went BR?

Hello,

I have just sent off about 8 letters to my creditors, explaining my situation and that i have just been discharged, and to ask them if they can change the default date to my BR date and to mark the accounts as satisfied or particially satisfied. I also printed my evidence of the discharge date off of the Insolvency Register and popped it in the envelope as well.

I will apply for my credit report again in about a month and see who has complied and then write to them again!

Starting to build up my credit again and improve my rating - want to get a house one day !!!

Thanks

I used a template letter (from another forum) and wrote to each of my creditors. Most have played ball, even if they haven't actually replied. I'm having fun with Barclaycard at the moment - they said they would update the files (they sold the debt to Max Recovery and didn't bother updating their entry) and didn't do it. I wrote to them again and they replied to my old address telling me they would write to me by 19th October. They then wrote (to my old address again) telling me they would write to me again by 22nd November.

So far:

Barclaycard - see above!
Callcredit - no reply (they have duplicated my BR details!)
Egg card - have updated files
Egg loan - have updated files
Equifax - have confirmed they have removed alias.
Littlewoods - have updated files
Max Recovery - say they have updated my files
Natwest - have updated files
Next - wanted proof they were included in BR but nothing since
Tesco - no reply
Virgin (MBNA) - sold debt to Max Recovery and have removed their entry

Hi Skippy
Yes I have had defaults dated after the date of BR.
Perhaps I shopuld start writing to them now and it may be sorted out by discharge next September.
Pete

I waited and did it all together so I could ask the creditors update my files to satisfied as they don't do that of their own accord.
