Hi all
I had my interview with OR this morning wifes having hers now we thought our situation was quite straightforward but my interview lasted 1hour and 45 minutes can anyone correct me if im wrong but i thought the OR was there to establish the causes of br.

This bloke accused me of reckless spending living beyond our means having a gambling addiction because i put down losing 800 quid in the last 2 years.

I was very polite all the way through and now its over i just think the worst they can do is a 15 year bro is almost 2 hours normal for interview normal [no business involved or anything].

Yes we have made mistakes we didnt plan on going br but circumstances overtook us just seems like this bloke was very judgemental.

Anyone else had a bad experience with OR.

Hi Coxy,

A bad old tale - The OR is there to asses not judge your character - I'd read a similar post pre Christmas and the overall responce was that you should ask them to treat you with respect and not to make rash statements - if they persist then you have a right to speak to their superior.

I'd personally report them - there but for the grace of God go they!

None of us choose this path - when I started my business 5 years ago I did not think my home would end up repossessed and I'd have debts over £300K!

At least the heavy stuff is out of the way - you can get on with life and fingers crossed avoid any IPA or BRU's.

Good Luck

Tim

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger (I hope ;-)

poor you - trust you to have a jobsworth character, unfortunately we all meet them in all walks of life (I personally know of a few in the OR's!!). Put it all behind you it over now, on ward and upward...hopefully your wife will not have as bad an experience. I am really sorry, but this type of examiner is rare, proably not too long qualified and has not learnt how to deal with people properly - this is a job that comes with experience, sometimes newly qualified examiners are far too exhuberant with their interpretation of Insolvency Law...thankfully this OTT behaviour soon mellows with time in the job!

hi there
my interview was on phone from manchester office in September and he was a nightmare saying that i had been acting fraudulently - spending money on credit with no intention of paying back. He had me in tears and didnt care. But looking back he was just a jobsworth type of person and i know i didnt do anything untoward i was just looking after my family and had every intention of paying my debts and always had with no problem until circumstances changed beyond my control.

Thanks Melanie
Yes jobsworth is 1 word i would use to describe him although i can think of several others.

The wifes interview lasted 1 hour and he was trying to dig up stuff from her first marriage 14 years ago.
She came off the phone and said its a good job it wasnt a face to face interview ...She was fuming.
also she is a carer and her hours & wages vary from month to month he couldnt grasp this as not everybody works 9-5 and repeatedly kept asking the same question over and over.
