Going to Court middle of May (BR)

Total bills (relevant to this thread) for financial year 2009/2010

Council Tax £1328

Water £327

So, if it were split evenly over 12 months, thats £110.67 for C/Tax and £33.08 for Water.

However........

C/Tax
My girlfriend moved in with me at the end of March so i lost my Single Person Discount. Informed C/Tax of this about a week ago. They said "not a problem" and will re-calulate my bill and they have to include both our names on the new bill. The new bill is £1328 for this financial year, but because it's payable in 10 installments and they are changing the account into both our names (takes them up to a month apparently to finalise paperwork and send out the new bill), the first payment wont be due until June 2009, making it £1328 over 8 months (£166 per month).

Water
Simply, its £327 over 8 months, starting April 09 and finishing November 09 and is £41 per month between now and Nov 09

PS - in previous financial years because of financial pressure's I've tried to convince my Borough (Haringey, London) and my Water Company (Thames Water) to accept the bill in full but over 12-months. On all occassions I have been told both by C/Tax and Water that "COMPUTER SAYS NO" to my proposed 12-month installment plan.

How does the OR tend to view such matters, any tips or experience to feedback to me please.

Hi

all council tax bills paid monthly are spread over 10 months unless a revised schedule is agreed.

I have yet to see an OR make any mental or written note of the fact that Feb and Mar are likely to produce higher DI because of this.

You are asked on the SoA what your monthly payments ARE. The SoA has to reflect your situation as of the date you are in court.

Therefore you should enter £166 & £41 respectively.
I know that technically if you declare in May your C/T is zero as payments commence in June but payment will be due June 1st and you're declaring mid May so by the time your next salary is paid the C/T is due.
