| Hi,i was made bankrupt in october 2007 and discharged last october 2008,my accountant is preparing my accounts, she has told me that i am liable fo income tax during the year of my bankruptcy,i am and have always been self employed,i have seen several articles explaining that no tax is due during the year of bankruptcy,i thought that i would only have to pay from last october when i was discharged until april of this year, please can somebody explain this in further detail, and would it be worthwhile calling hmrc and asking them directly.any advice very much appreciated. |

hi jj330
Your accountant is correct if I am reading it right. You will be liable for any Post Br Tax, October 2007 to April 2008, Any Tax Pre Br April 2007 to October 2007 will not be paid,as it is included the BR. Basicaly your company was closed down at the time of the Bancrupcy, and afterwards you started up again, You will be liable for the tax All the best
